Every May, Girona fills its old town, courtyards and monuments with flower installations for nine days. It is one of the busiest weeks of the year in the city: here is how to plan the trip from Barcelona.

The festival
Flowers in the old town
Girona, Temps de Flors fills streets, courtyards, churches and gardens of the Barri Vell with floral installations. The 2026 edition, according to Girona City Council, ran from 9 to 17 May with 141 projects in 113 locations. Entry to the displays is free; some activities need prior registration. The dates of the next edition are announced by the city in spring.
Crowds and traffic
Why a drop-off point matters
The old town of Girona already has camera-controlled access for vehicles, and during the festival the streets are packed with visitors, especially at weekends. We drop you at the closest point allowed to the Barri Vell and agree the pick-up point for the return.
Weekdays and early mornings are much calmer than the weekends. If you can choose, a weekday morning gives you the courtyards with fewer queues.
From Barcelona
There and back in a day
Choose Barcelona city, Sants or the airport as the start and Girona as the destination in the search box: with clear roads it is about 70 minutes from the city centre and 80 from El Prat. Book the return as a second trip, with a margin after your last visit. For groups, a minivan or minibus for everyone keeps the day simple; see group transfers.

Before you book
What your price includes, and the rules in plain words
A fixed price, nothing hidden
The price you confirm includes the luggage you book, and it does not change with traffic. Only extras you ask for on the day, such as an extra stop or extra waiting, are agreed with the driver before setting off.
Meet and greet at arrivals
Your driver waits in the arrivals hall of Terminal 1 or Terminal 2 with a sign showing your name.
Flight tracking
We follow your flight in real time. If it lands early or late, the pick-up moves with it.
Free waiting time
60 minutes at the airport, 30 minutes at the cruise port or Sants Station, and 15 minutes at hotels and any other address.
Free changes and cancellation
Free with 24 hours’ notice or more, with a full refund. Changes need at least 3 hours’ notice, or 8 hours at weekends, on public holidays and the day before them.
Online payment and invoice
You pay securely online when you book, and you receive a VAT invoice in your name or your company’s name.
Child seats on request
Tell us the children’s ages when you book and the seats are fitted before pick-up, for a small supplement.
Up to 22 passengers per vehicle
From a saloon car to a 22-seat minibus. Larger groups travel in several vehicles that leave at the same time.

When is Temps de Flors?
Every May, for nine days. The 2026 edition ran from 9 to 17 May; the city announces the next dates in spring.
Can you drive into the old town during the festival?
No vehicle can go freely into the Barri Vell. We stop at the closest point allowed and agree the return pick-up with you.
Is it worth going at the weekend?
It is the busiest time. Weekdays and early mornings are calmer.
Can a group of 15 go together?
