El Prat → Cadaqués

Barcelona Airport to Cadaqués

Cadaqués is the last village before Cap de Creus, at the end of a mountain road over the headland. It is the longest trip on this coast, and the one where a driver who knows the road makes the most difference.

The drive

Motorway, plain, and then the pass

The first two thirds are easy: the motorway north towards Figueres and the road across the Empordà to Roses. Then the road climbs over the ridge of Cap de Creus and winds down to Cadaqués. That last section is the slow one, with tight bends on both sides of the pass. In total the trip is usually around two hours and twenty minutes.

Our drivers take this road regularly. If anyone in your group gets car-sick, tell us: the driver will take the bends gently and can stop at a safe spot at the top.

The coast

From Blanes to Cadaqués, one fixed price

We drive the whole coast and the towns inland, always with Barcelona at the other end of the trip. Door to door, straight to your hotel, villa or campsite. Tap a town to see its page.

Arriving in Cadaqués

Narrow streets, very little room for cars

The old part of Cadaqués is a maze of steep, slate-paved lanes around the church of Santa Maria, and most of it is closed to vehicles. We drop you at the nearest point allowed to your hotel or house, and the driver helps you with the luggage. Parking in the village is scarce all year, which is one more reason people leave the car behind.

Village and seafront

Hotels and apartments along the bay and in the old streets. We stop at the closest point vehicles can reach.

Portlligat

The small bay just north of the village, where Salvador Dalí lived. His house is now a museum.

Houses on the hills

Homes on the slopes around the village, often up narrow tracks. Send us the address to plan the vehicle.

While you are there

Dalí’s house and the end of the peninsula

Dalí’s house at Portlligat can only be visited in small groups, and tickets usually have to be booked well in advance in summer. The Cap de Creus lighthouse, at the easternmost point of the Iberian Peninsula, is a short drive from the village and a classic spot for sunrise.

If you combine Cadaqués with a visit to the Dalí Theatre-Museum in Figueres, the two places are about an hour apart. See our Figueres page for transfers from Barcelona.

Coach or private transfer

An honest comparison

There is no train to Cadaqués. A coach runs from Barcelona with few departures and takes longer than the drive; another option is the high-speed train to Figueres and a bus from there. With luggage, children or a late flight, a private transfer is the only door-to-door option, and its price is per vehicle, shared by everyone in it.

Going back

From Cadaqués to Barcelona

We collect you in Cadaqués or Portlligat and drive you to the airport, the city centre, Sants Station or the cruise port. Because of the mountain road, the return needs a generous margin before a flight; we will suggest a pick-up time when you book.

Before you book

What your price includes, and the rules in plain words

  • A fixed price, nothing hidden

The price you confirm includes tolls and the luggage you book, and it does not change with traffic. Only extras you ask for on the day, such as an extra stop or extra waiting, are agreed with the driver before setting off.

  • Meet and greet at arrivals

Your driver waits in the arrivals hall of Terminal 1 or Terminal 2 with a sign showing your name.

  • Flight tracking

We follow your flight in real time. If it lands early or late, the pick-up moves with it.

  • Free waiting time

60 minutes at the airport, 30 minutes at the cruise port or Sants Station, and 15 minutes at hotels and any other address.

  • Free changes and cancellation

Free with 24 hours’ notice or more, with a full refund. Changes need at least 3 hours’ notice, or 8 hours at weekends, on public holidays and the day before them.

  • Online payment and invoice

You pay securely online when you book, and you receive a VAT invoice in your name or your company’s name.

  • Child seats on request

Tell us the children’s ages when you book and the seats are fitted before pick-up, for a small supplement.

  • Up to 14 passengers per vehicle

From a saloon car to a 14-seat minibus. Larger groups travel in several vehicles that leave at the same time.
