The drive
About two hours, almost all on the motorway
L’Escala is reached by the motorway north towards France and then a short run across the Empordà plain, through fields and small villages, to the sea. The whole trip is usually about two hours. Because most of it is motorway, it is a steady drive with few bends, good news if anyone gets car-sick.
If you are going to L’Estartit, opposite the Medes Islands, choose it in the widget: it is a separate destination with its own fixed price, a little further along the coast.
The coast
From Blanes to Cadaqués, one fixed price
We drive the whole coast and the towns inland, always with Barcelona at the other end of the trip. Door to door, straight to your hotel, villa or campsite. Tap a town to see its page.

Where we drop you off
Town, ruins, beaches and campsites
Old town and harbour
The streets around the old port, the promenade and the little beach of Les Barques, where the anchovy boats used to land.
Empúries and Sant Martí
The area of the archaeological site and the walled hamlet of Sant Martí d’Empúries, with dunes and pine woods along the beach.
Riells and Montgó
The residential bays south of the town, with apartments, holiday homes and the cove of Montgó under the hill.
Campsites
Several large campsites sit around L’Escala. If yours limits vehicles at certain hours, we stop at reception.
While you are there
Anchovies, salt and ancient Greece
L’Escala has salted anchovies by hand for centuries, and you can still buy them from the town’s salting houses. Just north of the town are the ruins of Empúries, where Greek traders founded a colony that the Romans later took over; the coastal path from the harbour to Sant Martí runs past them.
Many people staying in L’Escala come to dive around the Medes Islands, off L’Estartit, or to kayak along the Montgrí coast. If you bring diving gear, tell us when you book: it takes space, and we take it into account when choosing the vehicle.
The wetlands of the Aiguamolls de l’Empordà, a nature park for birdwatching, are a short drive north. L’Escala is a family destination: long shallow beaches, campsites and apartments, and many visitors staying for two weeks or more.
Coach or private transfer
Why families book the transfer
There is no train to L’Escala, and the coach from Barcelona is slow and ends at the bus stop in town. For a family arriving with two weeks of luggage, child seats and beach gear, one vehicle from the terminal to the door is simply easier. Tell us how many suitcases you bring; extra luggage that was not booked is charged on the day.
Going back
From L’Escala to Barcelona
We collect you at your hotel, apartment or campsite and drive you to the airport, the city centre, Sants Station or the cruise port. Book both directions together and change the return for free if your plans move, with 24 hours’ notice or more.
